[edit] A Guild Guide

This is a simple semi-pictorial guide to "how-to" use all the functions and perks given to you as the owner of a guildstone.

[edit] Acquiring a Guildstone

There are three main steps you need/should think about before you place a guildstone.

[edit] A House

To acquire a guildstone, first things first. You'll need a house to place a guildstone in, a house that you own and there holds no other guildstone inside(To remove a guildstone see "2. Additional"). To read about how to acquire a house, how to use it, what kind you'll want and all the special perks and tricks -> visit Housing Page

[edit] A Deed

To buy a deed you will need to gather 12450 gold pieces to buy a guild deed in a non-faction town. What what? What do I mean by faction town? There are certain cities that are a part of the faction wars, in which the faction commanders command the prices of those cities and may raise the price up to 400% of the original price. Avoid faction towns when you want to buy merchandise, those cities are;

Britain, Magincia, Skara, Moonglow, Vesper, Yew, Trinsic, Minoc

So after you have worked your way up to 12450gp, make your way into any non-faction city and look for a building with this sign by the entrance;

Image:sign.jpg

The sign states that the building is a provisioners shop. Inside you will find two kinds of NPCs, provisioners and cobblers. You'll want to buy the deed from a provisioner. Do so by approaching a provisioner and say "Vendor buy" when standing next to it. After the buy menu appears, "A Guild Deed" should be on top of the vendors list of merchandise. Double click the deed and click accept. Like so;

Image:Buying Guild Deed.jpg

  • You do not need to carry the 12450 gold pieces with you inside the shop. The vendor will automatically withdraw the money from your bank since the purchase costs higher than 2000gp, NPCs will do so with any purchase higher than 2000gp.

[edit] Placing the Guildstone

Bring your guild deed to your house, select a spot to place it at. You cannot place it at doorways, preferably place it in corners or against walls as you cannot walk through a guildstone. After you have chosen a spot and double clicked your guild deed, you will receive the following message;

Image:Guildname.jpg

This is the name for the guild, should not be confused for the abbreviation of the guild. The abbreviation is a shortened version of your guildname that is displayed in the title above your name(If you choose to have display the title). Choose your name carefully and make sure you don't write anything else but the guild name when getting this message. You may cancel the placement-process by pressing the escape button(Esc, top left corner of ur keyboard), a good thing to do if you want to take a minute or two to think about what you want your guild to be named. To find out a guildname, click once on a guild stone like so;

Image:Guildstonename.jpg

[edit] Functions

Title says it all. What can you do with your guildstone and what are all the different options for? This is the chapter where you find out.

[edit] Titles

One of the functions for guildstones are displaying and setting titles for you and your members. If you want to display your title, double click your guildstone. On the first display window in the upper right corner you will find this;

Image:abboffys.jpg

This means you are not currently showing your title. Simply click the button and it will turn from off to on, click your own character once and you will see your name and title displayed like this;

Image:titless.jpg

There's two things to note from this picture. First you may see the titles shown like this: [Guildmaster, none] Your title will always be shaped like this. "Guildmaster" the actual title, you may change it at any time for you or for any of the members in your guild. Simply do so by clicking on the "Access guildmaster functions" and choose from "Set the guildmaster's title" or "Grant a title to another member".

Second, you will notice that all members names and health bars will display in the color of green. This means that they are friendly, you will have the ability to attack and loot people flagged green. But beware! Green people can turn criminal/murderer as well, and if you cast a beneficial spell on them you will also flag criminal.

[edit] Abbreviation

In the previous picture you also saw that it said ", none". The comma is the mark for the end of the title and the beginning of the guild abbreviation. As previously mentioned the abbreviation is a shortened version of the name you have set for your guild. Even though your abbreviation may not correlate with the guildname at all, they still both are representatives for your guild. To set or change your abbrevation, go to "Access guildmaster functions" from the first page and select "Set the guild's abbreviation".

  • An abbreviation can by maximum contain of 3 letters, and a minimum of 1 letter.
  • The abbreviation will be shared with all guild members, and cannot be removed from your title if displayed.

After I've changed my abbreviation + title, this is what I end up with;

Image:titlefixeddd.jpg

As you may see my personal title is "I am a member of", and the guild abbreviation is "DFI". A very common thing about titles are that they may be clever in this way, working together. My title completing the sentence "I am a member of DFI". A proud one at that.

[edit] Recruiting

In order to set titles for other members, you need other members! How to do so? Quite simple it is. As a guildmaster there is only two simple tasks you will need in order to add a member. First, you'll need someone that wishes to join the guild. Second, to find this option when you double click the stone;

Image:recruit.jpg

Simply click that option and select the player you wish to add to the guild. After that's done, ask him to double click the stone and voila - he's a member. To view the members currently in your guild, click the "View the current roster." option at the first window. A new window will show, it will list all members currently inside your guild. Like so;

Image:roster.jpg

Me and Fee against the world.

[edit] Adding a Candidate for Recruitment

Regular members of a guild have very little access within a guildstone, one of those access features includes the ability to choose a candidate for recruitment. A member may meet someone whom they see fit in the guild, but maybe your online hours and/or activity hinders you from being able to bring that person in front of your guildmaster. If so, a member can choose to also select the recruit option on a person and if that should be the case. The guildmaster will be able to go to the "Access guildmaster functions"->"Administer the list of candidates" tab and see this;

Image:candidate.jpg

What the picture doesn't show is at the bottom of this window is that you have the choice between accepting and refusing. Meaning that you either accept this person into your guild or refuse him. After of course selecting the person you wish to either refuse or accept(The grey bump in front of CNT Muffy is a selective button).

  • By making other members recruit for candidacy, you may avoid time zone hassles and/or activity hassles.
  • If you want to add characters to the guild from the same account as the guildmaster, you'll have to recruit them for candidacy with the help of another member and then logging back in on guildmaster to accept the candidate.

[edit] Loyalty

As a member of a guild. Guildmaster or not. You have the option to lay your loyalty upon whom you see fit for the role of guildmaster. All new-recruits will automatically by default have loyalty set to the current guildmaster. For a guildmaster it would look like this in the upper left corner of the first display window;

Image:Loyaltoyourself.jpg

If I were to doubt in my own powers to rule my guild, I would click the button displayed above and choose loyalty to the person I'd like to see as guildmaster. It would look something like this;

Image:loyaltyother.jpg

If Fee was in this place to have more loyalty votes than me, he would be the reigning guildmaster of this guild. Fortunately., the few members I have, two actually, likes me very much. Will your members like you the same?

[edit] Moving a guildstone

A desirable function for those of you who care to re-decorate your house and/or buy new houses and move your guildstone to it. Selecting "Access guildmaster functions" in the first display window, then selecting "Move this guildstone" will give you a message and an item in your backpack;

Image:message.jpg

Image:Backpack.jpg

The small black stone you receive in your backpack is the item you use to teleport your guildstone. It's blessed, cannot be stolen or lost by dying. You can give it to anyone you wish to give it to, and if they are a house owner they have the ability to place the guildstone in their house by double clicking the stone. You will still be the guildmaster even if it's moved.

  • If you have a guildstone in your house that you do not control and want to remove/move it, use the in game "HELP" option on your paper doll and contact staff.

[edit] Going to War

Even though going to war with an opposite guild and/or guild type is a "function", I've decided to make this into it's own tab seeing as going to war is such a huge part of owning a guild these days. Going to war with someone would mean that you have the ability to attack them, and they you, night and day as long as they/you stay in their/yours guild and that they/you stay in war with you/them.

[edit] Challenging a Guild to War

To challenge a guild to war, you double click the guildstone to open. Click the "Access guildmaster functions." option and in the guildmasters tab, click the "Go to the WAR menu.". Inside you will find one option:

  • Declare war through guild name search

There are three more lines of text in this window, those lines are options that will open up for you and those lines are:

  • No current wars (Will change to "Declare Peace" option when you are in war with a guild)
  • No current invitations received for war(Will change to an option where you can see invitations for war)
  • No current declarations (Will change to "Rescind your war declarations" option, where you can view and remove your declarations to war towards other guild)

To send an invitation for war, click the "Declare war through guild name search". By doing so you will receive this message:

Image:writename.jpg

The message pretty much speaks for itself. You need to know either the abbreviation or guildname of the guild you wish to challenge, and you need to write a minimum of 3 letters(In case you want to search for random guilds to war, write common words like "The" or "One") After you've entered your search you get a list of guilds that contains the word(s) or abbreviation you've entered. Select your guild and click "Send the challenge!" button in the left lower corner.

After you've sent your war invitation you should receive a text to confirm your declaration:

Image:warinvite.jpg

And that's how you war a guild. I was strolling down the battle field one day and an enemy of the guild I've chosen to war appeared;

Image:draconis.jpg

You can easily identify enemies in the same way that your allies show green to you, your enemies name and health bar will show orange. You have the ability to attack and loot whoever is orange. Don't worry, Draconis got his share of the Qwertinator!;

Image:attackdrac.jpg

[edit] Order and Chaos

What is a game without heroes and villains? By clicking "Access Guildmaster functions" option in first window then selecting "Change guild type: Currently Standard", you'll have the option to select from three different guild types;

  • Standard guild
  • Order guild
  • Chaos guild

You are a standard guild by default, this means you have no enemies outside of the war-agreements that you have yourself conducted. By either going Chaos or Order you will gain enemies from the opposite side. Meaning that if you are order, all chaos members will be an enemy. If you are chaos, all order members will be an enemy. For an example, I've chosen to turn into an Order guild;

Image:order.jpg

Your guildtype will always show in your display title(Exception; Standard guild). The basic idea of Chaos and Order is to allow easy accessible to a wide amount of enemies. One should not have to war every single guild that they wish to fight, so with Chaos and Order you'll easily war alot of guilds with a few simple clicks.

[edit] Faction Guilds

One may have noticed that there are factions on this server, if you do not know what factions are and how they work. Please visit the [Factions page]. Factions have the same basic war idea as Chaos and Order guild types. When you're in a faction all other factions and their members will be enemies to you. When joining a faction you have to be guild less. After you've joined a faction you are able to join a guild. BUT, you are only able to join a guild with factioneers of the same faction that you are in.

In other words: If you are a member of the Minax faction, you can only join guilds that consists of members who also are Minax factioneers. People who are from other factions or not in a faction at all, cannot join the guild. Thus it's a faction guild.

As a faction guild you are still able to send war invitations, change guild types into Chaos or Order and use all other functions in the same way as a non-faction guild. If you ever should get in a fight with a factioneer against other opponents, beware: You cannot heal a factioneer unless you're in the same faction.

To read more in-depth about faction guilding and such, go to [the guild section of the faction page]
