[edit] Plant Growth
This is a small guide that will take you through the information, and process, of growing plants. Enjoy!
[edit] Starting Point
The most important thing is to have a house and place to lock the plants down. If you have a house, you are ready to grow a plant.
Different plants are available in Defiance:UOR. Some people make them for decoration purposes, others to trade them or sell them. Grown plants are known as "Decorative Plants".
An important item, which can be useful when you are growing plants, is "a seed basket". This basket can hold all the seeds you have. In order for it to work, you need to lock it down in a house.
[edit] The Seed Basket
This picture represents the content of 'a seed basket' when you open it. The storage is unlimited, so you do not have to worry about the lack of space.
On the left side, you'll see: Seed Type - this option shows what kind of seeds you have in the basket.
On the right side, you'll see: Seed Colors - this option shows what kind of flowers you can grow.
[edit] The Process
We all know that plants, just like in real life, needs to be watered and kept in a healthy condition. So if you want to grow plants, you need to take good care of them.
When your plant reaches an age of seven days, your plant will start producing 1 seed every day for a week. You can take the plant out earlier if you wish, and it should still produce seeds.
[edit] What's Needed?
When you are ready to set up and grow a plant, you need to buy a few basic things:
- a plant bowl - Can be bought in Provisioner shop in Britain. Usually it costs 8 gp per bowl.
- a pitcher of water - You can obtain them from innkeepers, which you will find within an inn. Normal price is 44 gp each.
Small tip: To spend less money on buying pitcher of water when water runs out, you can fill the pitcher at most water holes. You can also purchase a water trough and place it in your house, in which you will be able to fill your pitcher.
After you have gotten all those items, you are ready to go to the farms. You can locate farms next to the Occlo event docks/
At the farms you'll need to take your plant bowls with you, and fill them with dirt. You do this by double-clicking the bowl and then moving the cursor to the dirt and left click again.
When you are ready, put seeds in a bowl by double-clicking on the seed, and then single-click the bowl.
Remember to lock your bowls down in a house when you've reached this step.
[edit] Watering/Potions
As mentioned above, you will need to water your plants, but in addition you will also need to use potions on them. What Potions are needed you?
- Greater Cure potion
- Greater Strength potion
- Greater Heal potion
- Deadly Poison potion
[edit] How To Use Potions
To use the potions on your plants is simple.
The picture below represents a plant. As you can see, there is small red minus next to the water jar icon. We need to get rid of that by watering the plant. When you've watered the plant enough, there will be yellow minus. The yellow icon indicates that it still needs water, so keep on watering until the negative sign is completely gone.
The same process as we did when we watered the plant, will be applied to using potions. Remember, you must use the Greater Cure/Strength/Heal or a Deadly Poison potion on the plant(s), you cannot use any higher/lower level potions. There is, however, a slight difference in watering and using potions. To pour a potion into a plant, you must double click the potion icon and select the potion with the target cursor that appears. You can do the same with the water icon.
By click on left hand icons in plant-bowl window, you can read more information’s about fungi, disease, poison and insects.
- When plant has fungi, you will need to use Greater Heal potions.
- When your plant is poisoned, you will need to use Greater Cure potions.
- When your plant has a disease, you will need to use Greater Strength potions.
- When your plant is infected by insects, you can kill them by adding Deadly Poison potions.
Example of perfectly kept plant:
When the plant is...:
...'wilted', you will need to add 1 Greater Strength potion and 2 Greater Heal potions.
...'dying', you will need to add 2 Greater Strength potions and 2 Great Heal potions.
...is 'healthy', you need to add 1 Greater Heal potion.
Remember that a single potion may not always fix the complete problem, sometimes you've got to add several.
[edit] Growth Indicator
The growth indicator is a symbol in the upper right-hand corner of the image that tells you what happened the last time the plant tried to grow. If there's no symbol, that means there was/is an error, or the plant hasn't grown at all.
Other symbols:
Red ! : The plant did not grow because it was in an invalid location. This means the plant must either be sitting out on the ground, or it must be inside your backpack.
Red - : The plant did not grow because it was not healthy. A plant must be either “healthy” or “vibrant” in order to grow.
Yellow - : The plant did not grow because it had not been 23 hours since it last grew. Plants can only grow once every 23 hours.
Blue + : The plant successfully grew.
Green + : The plant successfully grew, and got an extra bonus growth from being planted in fertile dirt.
[edit] Cross-Pollination & Making Decorative Plants
When a plant first reaches its full-grown state, it will sprout to its full foliage, no longer contained within the plant bowl. At this stage of the plant’s growth, it will begin to produce pollen. You can view your plant’s current Pollination State in the Plant Resources Menu. The plant will eventually self-pollinate if left unattended, and the plant will begin to produce seeds. Seeds produced by a self-pollinated plant will grow up into an exact duplicate of the ”parent” plant. Plants will only give polled on days 7 through 9 of their growth cycle. Something to consider if you want to gather the pollen instead of letting the plant self-pollinate.
When it reaches level 9 we will be able to pollinate it with another plant.
