In the 6 years history of the UOR Network, it have never been offline for more than 13 hours, which make Defiance the most reliable shard ever to exist
- Server location: London
- Number of servers: 4 (UOR, AOS, Login, redundant servers to take over if an emergency occurs)
- Monthly bill for server and bandwidth cost: $2800-3300 a month [note: the server is maintained by professional and not by amateurs, hence the maintenance cost will be higher, and thanks to the skillful support team, we are able to have a very high industrial graded reliability, please see below for incidents list]
The longer the shard exists, the bigger the world becomes - the more item exist in the game world and hence, increased load the server endures. If server is not upgraded the save time will increase as time goes by, therefore, your donation is very much needed to keep the server alive. The world size have grown a lot over the 6 years history of defiance uor, it is now over 6GB in size, what this means is you will need a machine that have over 6GB of ram to even open the save file.

- Monthly bandwidth: about 2-3TB European bandwidth (most reliable but more expensive) at LINX [1]
Before May 2006, it was running on a Quad EMT64 3.2 Xeon (32 bit system)
As dfi become more popular, there is a need to have a upgrade the server and instead of renting it like the 32bit system, dfi team decided to buy the server instead, the spec is as follow:
Dell Server
4x (Quad) Core, Intel, Xeon X5355, 2x4MB Cache, 2.66GHz, 1333mhz FSB (max support of 10,000 players)
8GB FB 667mhz (scalable to 32GB) - we will upgrade when and as needed.
300GB, SAS, 15.000 rpm HDD, On RAID 5 (24x7 drive mirroring, no chance of a disk failure.)
Warranty 4Hr On site Response (24x7) on all hardware. [if there's a hardware failure, an engineer will be replacing the hardware within hours]
1000Mbps Ethernet Connection, with a full 1000Mbps duplex link.
AOS:
- Upgraded: Jun 2008
- Current spec: Quad core, 4GB of RAM, with a 15k SAS HDD.
