[edit] Player Owned Vendors

A small guide on player owned vendors.

[edit] What is a player owned vendor?

A player owned vendor is a vendor you can put your own items on to sell. It will take some money for upkeep but it can sell items even when your sleeping!

[edit] How to get started

You will need a contract of employment. These contracts can be purchased from most innkeepers and bankers around the world. You will also need to own a house yourself or be co-owned or even just friended to a house in order to use your contract of employment. You will also need items to sell, this could be anything you can imagine.

  • NOTE: To maintain a Vendor you will have to pay it. The maintenance fee for a Vendor starts with 20 gp per 8 hours playing time. The minimum fee per real day is therefor 60 gp.
  • NOTE: Being friended to a house and placing a vendor there is at your own risk. Many negative situations can arise from this. So be careful.

[edit] The Vendor Interface

To access the vendor interface double click your vendor.I will give you a brief explanation on what everything means and can be used for in the vendor gump.

"# of days Vendor salary is paid for" This is the amount of Ultima Online days this vendor is paid for.
"Earth days" This the amount of normal days the vendor is paid for.
"Gold held for you" This is the gold your vendor is holding for you from the sales you have made.
"Gold held in my account" This is the gold you have given your vendor for upkeep.
"My charge per day is" This is the amount your vendor will charge you per day to sell your wares.
See goods button: This is where you can see the items your vendor is selling for you and also where you can add more items to sell.

[edit] Commands

A list of the commands you can use on your vendor. I will be using my vendors name "Courtney" but just replace its name with yours.

"Courtney dismiss" If you are the owner of the vendor, he will terminate the contract of employment with you. The Vendor will self-destruct, leaving no corpse. Any items or gold he is holding will not be reimbursed, so remove all items and issue a "collect" command first.
"Courtney collect" If you are the owner of the vendor, he will give you the gold he is holding. The amount will be in gold if less than 5000, or as a bank check if 5000 or more. The largest check one can receive is for one million gold, if the vendor holds more than that another request has to be made by the owner to collect the rest.

[edit] Additional Info

The more items you have for sale on your Vendor, the higher the maintenance fee will be.
For each 500 gp worth of merchandise the Vendor will charge 1 gp maintenance fee per 8 hours. (Example: With a base fee of 20 gp and 5500 gp of merchandise for sale the Vendor will charge 20 + ((5500-500)/500) = 30 gp per 8 hours).
A Vendors backpack has the same weight and item count restrictions as a regular backpack. (i.e. 400 stones / 125 items max.) To offer an item for sale just drop it in the opened backpack of the Vendor. The Vendor will then ask for a price and description.
You then have several options:

  • Enter only a price if you do not wish to add a description. Example: 1000
  • Enter a price and description, separated by a space or comma, to set both. Example: 1000, a wand of identification with 200 charges
  • Enter only a description if you want the system to set a default price. Example: a handcrafted stack of kindling
  • Press the ESC key to make the item 'not for sale'. (Note: only books, containers, key rings and items within a for-sale container can be made 'not for sale')

If your vendor runs out of gold at any time, he will leave his post due to the lack of pay and return whatever items he has of yours to your bankbox.
